Thanks For All The Support

First and foremost, THANK YOU all for the world-wide support.

The recently announced development plans to convert 5 Pointz into a high-rise residential tower and luxury shopping mall came as a great surprise to us all. We wish we could answer all of your questions and concerns right now but the truth is we were just as surprised by the news as everybody else. Over the past decade Jerry Wolkoff has given us the opportunity to transform the warehouse at Jackson and Crane into 5 Pointz known to you all as the graffiti Mecca, a spot Jerry himself has referred to as a great place.

All we can do right now is sit tight and prepare for the new season, we have walls to fix and materials to acquire in order to welcome you all for our re-opening.

We are going to keep on doing what we do best – looking forward to seeing you all and witnessing another great season at 5 Pointz

Peace

Meres and the 5 Pointz team

Please fill out and send this petition to everyone you know!

KEEP STRONG

Video shot and edited by Hagoth Aiono. Hagoth came to visit 5 Pointz about 2 weeks ago on a trip from California. He was amazed to see the great artwork and interviewed Meres about 5 Pointz and immediately befriended the 5 Pointz team. Hagoth came to see art and left with a greater connection to our 5 Pointz family. Our graffiti mecca is here to inspire and spread art as well as create meaningful connections throughout the world to our great vision.

————————————-

Sad to see this place go. I actually used 5pointz as a site for my architectural thesis project where I designed another safe haven for writers in the rear parking lot. Great project for a truly amazing place!!

FIVE POINTZ IS WHO US GRAFFERS REALLY ARE…ART

Anonymous
Anonymous 3.13.11

I dont get it! its sad to see 5ptz gooo, seems like they want to demolish graff art all together, graffiti is a way of communication through art, feeling through art, and reunites people together as they admire art, graffiti is ART when its done legally, and honestly this is the only place that i know of that you can do it legally, so what theyre trying to prove? that it has to be destroyed legally too? thats going to cause more and more trouble because now more and more people are going to head back to the streets tagging up, this place teaches everyone that graffiti is allowed when done legally and admired when done legally, this place cant go, it shouldnt! this is art this is graffiti LEGALLY!

I agree with anonymous! If its done legal it should be allowed and everyone has been trying to destroy the real point of graffiti for a long time now! Graffiti is a font style in text but i guess since theres alot of people abusing what graffiti really is in its improper form in the streets, they have decided that they got to destroy this type of art in all shapes and form! and its not going to happen because yeah theres just going to be more writings tagging up illegally just like the good old days! save 5ptz! save graffiti! save art!

Yes so true …… There is going to be a bigger problem if they build those condos…. more and more people head back to the streets to tag up…… People would probably tag up on those new condos that theyll built saying we want 5ptz back or cause vulgar graffiti madness and destruction when they even try to built it….the grounds around it will be tagged up and everything… It will be graffiti madness… 5ptz should be saved because if it is destroyed watch all the problems evolve

I know there is a fundraiser tonigh in Manhattant- I heard there will be a rally
also- is there a date for this.? I am a retired social worker I know the politics/atomosphere of NYC has changed drastically over the years. Years ago, but we were able to stop some commerical development-esp in the East Village- let me know if there is a definite rally scheduled Thanks. Maybe we can moblize artists/ politicians etc
5 Pointz is a unique art colony- known across the USA It would be a tragedy if it is destroyed
