Meeting of Styles (or MOS), the world traveling outdoor aerosol art exhibition, came to 5 Pointz this year bringing with it an international lineup of graffiti writers, break dancers, and MCs.
With over 110 artists coming from all corners of the world, demand for spots on the wall was high. Most spots were reserved over a month in advance and those that weren’t were quickly accounted for by some of the many artists wishing to have their writing on the wall.
After several days of intense preparation for the event, the 5 Pointz team was able to lean back and enjoy as hundreds of artists and spectators flooded the loading dock in search of fun and creativity on the beautiful October weekend.
As Graff writers decorated the expansive 200,000-ft2 warehouse, live Performances by New York’s own Shiesty Heights, Bisco Smith and Craig G stirred the crowd and drew in new visitors leaving everyone excited and wanting more. All the while, break dancers performed casually on a linoleum floor tile set out on the upper level of the 5 Pointz loading dock.
Every single piece was special in its own unique way, but a number proved to be especially noteworthy. Bisc1, Bishop203, and Lika of TD4 created an incredible zombie themed masterpiece using dark earth tones to give it a frightening yet fascinating appeal. To the left lies the Blue Griffin, a massive blockbuster designed and painted by WeRdesign, which hails from Torino, Italy and is a true testament to the diversity and far reaching influence of graffiti. Finally, Zimad’s solo production piece, portrays an epic standoff between the mythological gods, gods Zeus and Poseidon.
MOS 2010 was a great success. We hope everyone enjoyed himself or herself as much as we did and we hope to see everyone’s continued support through 2011.
